About Science & Engineering Council of Santa Barbara

The Science and Engineering Council (SEC) is a non-profit organization devoted to providing interaction among individuals, companies, and institutions engaged in scientific and engineering activities within Santa Barbara County. SEC activities promote public awareness of science and the value of technical enterprises to the community.

SEC activities include:

  1. Our monthly luncheon programs are open to the public. These lectures focus on topics of current interest and provide networking opportunities to engineers, scientists, and business professionals. See the list of past topics for the types of topics we host.
  2. Our Science Fair awards recognize top winners in the Santa Barbara County science fair, who present their projects at our luncheon. This gives them valuable practice in advance of the California State Science Fair. We present monetary awards, certificates, and trophies to winners in all divisions.
  3. Our STEM scholarships are for local college students in the sciences. These scholarships are administered through the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara.
